Chicago Art Institute: Van Gogh's Bedrooms
I saw Van Gogh's Bedrooms over spring break of 2016, and it was one of the best experiences of my life. I have always loved all of Van Gogh's work, and seeing it in person was amazing. I also though the exhibit was put together very well, although the three versions of his bedroom painting were the focus, it included plenty more of his work, along with his history and information about his life I'd never known before.

The work presented was all very expressive, although most was still life and landscapes, the brushwork gave it movement and this sort of erratic energy. His use of nonlocal color I thought was also very striking, giving the work a more imaginative feel, almost giving emotion to still objects. |

The exhibit also presented a new way to see Bedroom: a three-dimensional, life size model of the room painted, complete with a surrounding floor plan of his Yellow House in Auvers where he painted the bedroom. I thought this was a very immersive way to experience his point of view, and allowed the viewer to really experience the art. |
