MAM: Uncrated
Recently the Milwaukee Art Museum (MAM) completely renovated their permanent galleries, rearranging the pieces that were already there and constructing additions to house more artwork both purchased from other galleries and ones that had been in MAM storage for years because the museum did not have the space to display them.
When I visited a few weeks ago, I did not have enough time to really explore the entire museum, so I decided to focus my attention on really immersing myself in one or two sections than to try and skim through everything.

The main exhibits I focused on were the modern sculpture and Pop Art sections. The vivid colors really grabbed my attention immediately, and once I started there, it was difficult to leave. Most of the works were generally very geometrical and bright, very bold colors and angles.
One of the pieces I really loved was this sculpture created by Larry Bell. The piece is two squares of glass attached to form a right angle, and painted so that the center starts of mirror-like, but slowly fades to transparent glass as you move towards the edges. The effect is stunning and eye-catching, a good beginning to the gorgeous exhibit.
