MIAD: RPM Exhibition
The drawings above are all part of one project for which the students were asked to combine the human form with traits from animals. I thought this was an interesting way to develop the student's artistic skills, and it let them present each artist's different take on the project and express their individual style.
A lot of the art showcased had very strong, political messages, and not metaphorically, but spelled out, right-in-your-face messages, so there could be no misunderstanding. To me this had the effect of sort of blurring the line between art and advertising, but most of the pieces managed to do it in a very expressive, emotional way. It was also intriguing to see so many artists incorporate text into their work, something I'd often been taught was very risky and difficult to pull off correctly, but on the whole I thought the students were successful with it.
All artworks shown were created and presented by MIAD freshmen students.
